Half day
Table Mountain & City Tour
The cableway to the top of Table Mountain, the painted streets of the Bo-Kaap and the V&A Waterfront — the city in half a day.
The shortest way to understand Cape Town is to get above it. This half-day tour takes the rotating cableway to the summit of Table Mountain, then comes back down into the two neighbourhoods that show the city at ground level.
It fits comfortably into a morning or an afternoon, which makes it the tour to take on an arrival day, a departure day, or the day the wind finally drops.
Where we go
-
1
Table Mountain cableway
A five-minute ride in a rotating car up the cliff face, and then the whole peninsula laid out below — the city, both coasts and the Twelve Apostles. The cableway runs on the weather, so we watch it and pick the right slot.
-
2
Bo-Kaap
The old Malay Quarter on the slopes of Signal Hill: cobbled streets, painted houses and the oldest mosque in South Africa, with the mountain standing over all of it.
-
3
V&A Waterfront
The working harbour turned into the city’s meeting place — boats, the Cape Wheel, markets and museums, with Table Mountain filling the skyline behind.
